These carpets are 40-50 years old, handmade with a traditional knotted stitch in wool on a cotton base. The original beauty is retained, with new life instilled by an overdye process that colours the wool, but leaves the cotton warp and weft in its original state.
They are very durable and easily washable (in fact our supplier says that in Turkey, they would be hosed down outside and left to dry in the sun). As the wool pile is shaved back, dust doesn't sink in, and they are very easy to vacuum.
