This beautiful range of vintage kantha quilts have been block printed with natural indigo using the ancient Rajasthani mud resist technique.
Mud is applied to the fabric with a wood printing block, and then sprinkled with a fine sawdust to set the mud in the sunlight. The quilts are dyed with natural indigo and then the mud is washed away.
You can read more about mud resist printing here.
Embodying a contemporary aesthetic, each of these beautiful quilts is a one off. Some are patched, and some may include glimpses of the pattern or colour of the original quilt under the indigo. If you are concerned, please contact us and we can supply more detailed photos and measurements of a particular quilt.
