Product Description
Add colour, texture, and personality to your home with a beautiful vintage cushion. These unique pieces represent a connection to centuries old textile traditions.
This cushion cover has been made from a section of vintage quilt that has been reinvigorated with Suzani* embroidery (reverse in plain cotton canvas). Whilst each is a one-off, we have multiple pieces available made from the same quilt - please get in touch for more information.
The bolster cushion is sold with an Australian made feather insert.
*Suzani takes its name from the Persian word suzan, meaning needle. Suzani embroidery is an exuberant and highly symbolic form of surface embellishment, that originated in Central Asia. Created as part of a dowry by the bride and her family, Suzani embroidered panels traditionally employ motifs representing fertility and abundance (pomegranates), universal life and divine protection (sun and moon symbols), and floral motifs signifying immortality, renewal and beauty.
NOTE : This cushion cover is made from vintage fabrics, patched and stitched by hand and then embroidered. Any variation or inconsistency is not to be construed as a fault, but part of the intrinsic beauty of the history of the piece and the handmade process.
