Lotus Veda are a Jaipur-based company who pride themselves on beautifully simple, comfortable clothes made from handloom natural fibre fabrics, using only natural and eco-friendly dyes.
All production is completed in small batches, from weaving to stitching, aiming for zero wastage and sustainability. Lotus Veda pay fair wages to all their artisans.
Only cotton threads are used, ensuring garments are (in the far future, after a life of being loved and worn many many times!) 100% bio-degradable. Buttons are stitched by hand, and every garment has its own sweet hand-finished detail for you to discover.
In a beautiful handloom chambray kala cotton*, Sky is a sweet collarless blouse with a half button placket edged with a tiny frill. Easy to wear all year round, it has long, set in sleeves with a frilled, button cuff. It is lightly gathered to the front and back yokes, and has selvedge detail at the hem, with exquisite mother-of-pearl button details.
*Kala cotton (Gossypium herbaceum) is a highly drought-tolerant indigenous species of the Kutch region, renowned for its sustainability. Grown with only natural rainfall, and without fertilisers or pesticides, it produces a beautifully breathable and durable, slightly slubby fabric that is perfect for handloom and other artisanal textiles.
NOTE: This is a handmade product, any variation in dyeing or weave is a natural variation, not to be construed as a fault, but an intrinsic part of the beauty of the artisanal process.
