Maku Textiles was founded in 2011 by designer Santanu Das. With a passion for handwoven textiles and indigo dye, Maku produces carefully considered handmade garments that celebrate the historic craft and textile traditions of India.
The Setaareh collection, meaning “star” in Persian, is inspired by the Sufi poets Rumi and Hafiz, whose words of wisdom are embroidered into the garments. The colours and fabrics "summon the nature of the moon light, the shine of the milky way, the invisible lines connecting stars into constellations, the dusty blue of dawn, and the dark blue of a moonless night sky".
The Toye dress is a charming play on the simple shift dress in beautiful handspun, handwoven cotton. Relaxed round neck, short kimono sleeves, A-line horizontal stripes with vertical stripes in the yoke, slits at the hem.
