Maku Textiles was founded in 2011 by designer Santanu Das. With a passion for handwoven textiles and indigo dye, Maku produces carefully considered handmade garments that celebrate the historic craft and textile traditions of India.
The Setaareh collection, meaning “star” in Persian, is inspired by the Sufi poets Rumi and Hafiz, whose words of wisdom are embroidered into the garments. The colours and fabrics "summon the nature of the moon light, the shine of the milky way, the invisible lines connecting stars into constellations, the dusty blue of dawn, and the dark blue of a moonless night sky".
The Sefid dress is a free size dress made from blue and white striped handspun, handwoven cotton. With three quarter sleeves, round neck with over-layered yoke at front and back, gathered skirt with one inch flap over gathers at waist and a slit opening at centre front neck.
