Maku Textiles was founded in 2011 by designer Santanu Das. With a passion for handwoven textiles and indigo dye, Maku produces carefully considered handmade garments that celebrate the historic craft and textile traditions of India.
The Setaareh collection, meaning “star” in Persian, is inspired by the Sufi poets Rumi and Hafiz, whose words of wisdom are embroidered into the garments. The colours and fabrics "summon the nature of the moon light, the shine of the milky way, the invisible lines connecting stars into constellations, the dusty blue of dawn, and the dark blue of a moonless night sky".
The Hafiz man-style shirt is an easy fitting, button up long sleeved collarless shirt made from super soft handspun, handloomed cotton in white with extra fine stripes in indigo and burgundy. Feature patch pockets with side openings and self covered buttons, side slits at hem, pleat to back yoke. The perfect light weight cover up for summer.
