Maku Textiles was founded in 2011 by designer Santanu Das. With a passion for handwoven textiles and indigo dye, Maku produces carefully considered handmade garments that celebrate the historic craft and textile traditions of India.
The Jataka collection is inspired by stories of the former births of The Buddha on his path of gradual transformation to The Enlightened One. This collection introduces red to the Maku palette for the first time, using natural dyes drawn from lac and madder.
The Condor dress is made from handspun, handwoven crushed cotton, in hand dyed mid indigo with a red stripe. Round neck, long sleeves with gathered skirt to mid calf, overlapped and buttoned at the neck with waist tie.
